Grief

Grief is love
Love is grief
It’s the only mantra that keeps me safe
It’s the only mantra that keeps me sane

Because now it means that the emptiness
Has a romantic meaningful reason to exist
And it not just senseless senselessness
This emptiness dragging on to amount to nothing

It means that the gloomy doomy space
In between getting over it and pretending to be done
is now a space filled with warmth, compassion and softness
Not just barren but a garden full of budding flowers

Grief is love
Love is grief
And from this past seeds will grow
A more meaningful future without you

My grief about you is the remnant of my everlasting love
And I will force growth in your honour
I am forced to grow in your honour
I will do it remembering your smile

I will come to the point where I realize
Grief is only amplified aimless love
And after that feeling dissipates
There’s only love that remains

I am an Amsterdam based writer, to whom poetry comes easiest. Love to explore storytelling, and how that works in real life as well. Curious about most things.
